Context menu item problem and accessing files problem

I have 2 issues. I don't know if they are related somehow.

1. I installed PrivaZer and deleted it. It still shows up on the right click context menu. I tried to reinstall it and deleted it again. I still have that problem. I even restarted the computer. How can I get rid of the entry?

2. When I try to click on/install some downloaded .exe files, I get a message: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file." It hasn't happened with other file types yet.

I scanned for viruses and it didn't find anything. I wasn't sure what to do. Thank you.

When you said you installed it then deleted it. Do you mean you uninstalled it ? If you deleted then there are left over to be cleaned, You must uninstall not delete.

Please download: ShellExView - Shell Extension Manager For Windows . Right click and run as Admin, locate the extension in question. If you double click it, it will tell you where it is stored on the HD, you can disable first then delete.

Hi GrapeLivre, welcome to Windows EightForums! :)

I tried it using their uninstaller and it left NO traces, not even a reg entry.

Uninstall - Edwin000's library(sorry bout the dancing cursor; too much coffee!)

As for the second issue, I don't have a clue, sorry. :)

Sorry, I meant I uninstalled it with their uninstaller. I downloaded ShellExView. When I tried to run it, it says:"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file."

Watch out on the System Restore. It can end up deleting anything that was currently installed between that period. Personally it is easier to dig through the registry to find any remnants of a program that the uninstaller did not remove. Just make sure you make a copy of the registry in case you accidentally remove the wrong key.

You may be able to use HiJack This and see if it finds any remaining parts of the program.

Thank you. The CCleaner context menu cleaner got rid of the entry. At least for now.

I also keep having the error message: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." It doesn't happen on all files.

Also, did my HiJackThis file look okay? Like, did it have anything bad in it?
