Hi, I am new here but have been known about this place for ages and you all seem to be very helpfull. I will explain the problem I am having below, let me let you know that I am not new to computers and have been dealing with them since the late 90s and I am A+ certified.

Ok here we go, what I am experiencing are totaly random CTDs of any game I play, it has been happening In Win 7 and now with Win 8.1. All same kind of crash with same exception code.
Games have been Battlefield 4, Hitman Absolution,Left 4 Dead 2 and now Red Orchestra 2.

Here is what reliability monitors report has to say about the latest crash:

Notice the exception code, c0000005,every single CTD with every game was giving this same exception code....
At first I suspected a hardware problem since that code usually means defective RAM. Thing is I have tried everything I could think of. System is not overclocked, ran memtest on each stick individually with no errors, swapped RAM with memory from a functioning computer,RMAed mobo, even just swapped video, and still same problem. Only 2 parts I havent touched are CPU and PSU. I suspect maybe a defective memory controller on this CPU? Also to rule out software issue I tried running driver verifier, but when I restart it doesnt seem to be doing anything.

Someone please for the love of god help me out, this has been going on for ages and I always have been able to solve computer issues on my own but this has me totally stumped and is a mystery to me and Im fed up with it to tell you the truth.

My system specs are posted in my profile if you are interested.

I presume that CTD = Crash To Desktop?

We still need the reports, even if there aren't any BSOD's
Also, Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog))
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

0xc0000005 is a memory access error - it is not a hardware error (it can be either software or hardware)
In my experience, this error is most often software.

When running Driver Verifier you won't see anything (except, in some circumstances) a slowing down of the system
The purpose of Driver Verifier is to stress drivers AND cause a BSOD.
You must let Driver Verifier run for a while - I usually recommend 36 hours.
Finally, I get better results when only testing 3rd party drivers using these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

Just for the sake of completeness, run these free diagnostics (only the ones that you haven't run): Hardware Diagnostics FWIW - Prime95 will test the memory controller (which is on the CPU) and the CPU cache

Once I see the reports, I'll make some suggestions.
Then we'll wait to see if Driver Verifier causes a BSOD (if it does, we'll analyze it)

The hardware diagnostics will help to rule out hardware causes.

As these are Steam apps:
- have you uninstalled/reinstalled Steam?
- have you tried the error fixes listed at the Steam forums (there's a way to refresh/fix your Steam files - I just haven't seen it in a couple of years). Here's a link to a Google search about it: https://www.google.com/search?q=rep...la:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&channel=sb

000005 can be a hardware error if your RAM is bad.... but yes it could also be software.

In any case Im attaching what you asked for even though I just analized it myself and latest crash which happened at 2:32PM is not showing up in custom views only in application events, but hey if its what you want....

Ill try driver verifier again but like I said it wasn't doing anything, CPU usage was idle at 0%.....

As far as hardware diagnostics I don't use prime, I find it to be unreliable at detecting CPU errors and find OCCT much better, which I can run for 24 hours straight with no errors.

And yes I reinstalled steam and game, but this also happened with BF4 which runs through Origin. It happens with every game and only in games, if Im in desktop browsing web or whatever movies, music system is perfectly stable and only crashes with games. Even more interesting is that I can leave OCCT gpu test running for hours and hours and hours with not one single error or crash and that is based of Crysis 2 engine which is a game. This really has me stumped.

Anyways see file attachment, I am also going to leave driver verifier running as per your instructions but I don't really think it will matter since im not blue screening and verifier is to create blue screens...

There are repetitive errors from:
- AMD Fuel Service
- e1express

I'd suggest uninstalling both the AMD Fuel service/drivers and the e1iexpress software/drivers and see if that helps

If you've analyzed the crash yourself, could you please post the results?
All I've seen is the error report in your first post - and quite frankly that doesn't help too much.

As you haven't provided the other reports that I requested, I can't offer any further suggestions.
Good luck to you.

I did post the crash results in first post.
I don't know what other reports you want me to post, im still running driver verifier.

As far as AMD fuel service and e1express I never had a problem with them. The Fuel service I can probably disable through services.msc but e1express I have no clue what it is.

As you can see its basically what I put in first post already.

In any case im starting to see a patern in the crashes, they seem to only happen when disconnecting from the game. Both BF4 and Red Orchestra. Hitman though on the other hand was totally random since its a single player game not played online. But im starting to suspect NIC driver. Im using the stock driver for it and its one of the only drivers I do not have updated along with mouse which I am using legacy Win 7 driver for.

I think your on to something looks like e1express has to do with the NIC which is an intel gigabit adapter...
Time to go for new driver hunting for it

Wow does intel suck, they don't actually provide updated drivers for their NICs in Win 8.1, from what I gather the only one is the stock one provided by MS.

I tried using this, which is dated from last month https://downloadcenter.intel.com/De...apkw=intel+82583v+gigabit+ethernet+controller

And my exact NIC is listed as compatible and upon installation it says no intel adapter detected. What a load of crap. Im trying to install the driver from motherboard CD now even though it seems older then the one windows puts.....

BUt this is not a performance problem. My machine is turned for performance.

My problem is crash to desktop.

Anyways heres an update on the situation, I just found out the stock NIC driver windows puts is the wrong one, when I installed the driver from motherboard disk device managers has a different name for it... And Im going to assume the disk driver is the correct one since I now notice a PXE NIC message before POST when I turn computer on. Im going to keep my fingers crossed and hope this fixes the CTD. Im testing right now for crashes and so far so good, but it could take hours or a few days for it to happen.

If it still crashes my next step will be to update mouse driver, thing is Razers updated drivers require username and pass and store you mouse settings in cloud, which is the stupidest thing ever, does not allow detailed sensitivity adjustments and is very basic, which Is why I run the legacy Win 7 driver. But hey you never know it could be the culprit as well. All other drivers are updated.

And the last thing I suspect has to do with punkbuster, you see punkbuster is an online anti cheat system distributed with games like BF4 and RO2. Now I haven't noticed this in BF4 when I had it installed but I am noticing in RO2 that one of the services related to punkbuster disappears at random intervals, supposedly AVs and firewalls blocking it can do this yet I have none installed at the moment for troubleshooting. Thing is usually when punkbuster fails you just get kicked from the server, but it can also cause crashes. So you never know, right now Im playing in non PB servers only protected by VAC to troubleshoot. But yet again Hitman would give same crash as well and its a single player game that does not connect to any PB servers, what it does do is go online to compare your skill stats with other players and when you get acheivements.

Whew this is hard to troubleshoot, but im doing my best.

I will keep you updated if it was the drivers I mentioned or the PB theory.

    Huh?
Still crashing despite the correct NIC driver and non PB servers.
Trying the newest Razer driver now.

Still got a few tricks up my sleeve in case this doesn't work, since you mentioned AMD FUEL service, what it does is control power option video card and it may be failing cause I have CCC (catalyst control center) disabled, they say it hurts performance but let me see if leaving it enabled will make a difference if this doesn't work.

There is a chance it might be a few system tweaks I do whenever I do a clean install such as disabling superfetch and prefech since an SSD doesn't need them but with windows you never know, going to have go through that guide and set things back to default see if that makes a difference.

Long time no post but this issue is still not resolved....

I had my entire network hacked and thought it was due to this, but im entirely new hardware now and im still crashing.
So I think we could rule out hardware as a problem since im on all new parts. What on earth could be causing this crash? So far Ive only installed red orchestra 2 but got the same exception code crash with locale id 1033. As well as a few IE crashes with same exception code.

This is a BSOD forum - that's for kernel space crashes.
Although I do have some experience with user space crashes, it's not nearly as much as those in the Performance & Maintenance - Windows 8 Forums

If you wish me to continue working on this, then let's try another set of reports:
1) Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum): http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cra...e-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html Please use Option 1 as it provides Event Viewer logs.

2) Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog))
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

While waiting for a reply, please monitor your temps with this free utility: HWMonitor CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting
This isn't required, but it may be helpful.

Check it out, I just looked at it, you can see a crash for rogame.exe at 10:05, I see nothing suspicious happening before it. What do you think?

You choose what you do to your system and what you don't do.

But, quite frankly, I'm out of ideas here.
