Hello, I have win 8.1 x64 Core installed.
The thing is, i want to remove some items from my start screen and right clicking does not bring up any menu (which it used to on my previous win 8.1, this is new installation).
WEe, I deleted some files which were actually looking like shortcuts (had arrow below icons, like shortcuts) in C:\Users\ (and directories in it), thinking that these shortcuts are just useless. And I think this somehow caused the problem.
Anyways, now I want to remove a few thing from my start screen and no option is appearing. Is there any way to manually remove them?

Heres a screenshot->

Same thing happens in the "detailed" start screen, the checkmark appears, but no menu to do anything.

You're welcome, albeit a temporary fix for now.
Most are saying the glitch is caused by installing a 3rd party Theme.
Welcome to Windows EightForums, btw, and happy browsing! :)

Windowblinds 8 will cause this problem if you are not running the latest version (just released a few days ago).

No, not using windows blinds... but custom themes-> yes.
And nothing much except a stardock bunch-> Descapes, Fences, Icon Packager, WindowFX, Decore 8
