My ADC 2009 photo manager doesn't want to work very well in Windows 8 so I put some of my pictures in the picture library and they work find. The problems is I don't want to put 100 GB of pictures in my C drive where the library is at because of backups. I keep all my data on another partition like most people do so how can I use the picture library without putting all my picture there which is the C drive?

You can add a folder from another drive to the Pictures Library. navigate to the libraries in explorer. Highlight the Pictures Library. Select Library tool from the ribbon and press the Manage button. You can add a folder in the dialogue. Or even simpler right click on the library and select properties and press the add button.

Sadly Windows 8 continues the "cannot add folder on a removable device to libraries" issue. This is a nonsense for a tablet where most will be hosting media files on SD cards!!! This makes the Video and Music apps practically useless.

It doesn't work. It shows some of the folders but they are empty according to the picture library, they also show how many pictures are in the folder but says 0 files. Also I made sure that the green check was at the partition that the pictures are in. I did this by right mouse clicking the picture library, properties and click add. Doing this made the My Picture and pubic library empty and Pictures 3. F drive is where my pictures are at. So something is wrong I didn't do it right.

I take it that Archived is the pictures folder on drive F. If that is showing pictures when accessed directly but not via a library then there is a bug.

Works on my Laptop using a WD Essentials external HDD (Video & Music). No hassle.
