Solved Online searches still there after PC Reset???

Today is my 1st post and I a not sure if I am in the right place .
I did a PC Reset , I guess some computers changed the name from Factory Restore.
I wanted the laptop to be out of the box condition.

I have Window 8....and somehow my friend screwed up my computer, he borrowed it and went to a place where he thought he might find a unsecured wifi, he didn`t .......When he brought it back it would not find my Wifi , in fact it showed no networks available and when I looked around it said Wifi is off, and another place related to the Router, it said no hardware......So so I couldn`t figure out how
to fix it, so that is why the PC reset.

So my questions are , the Reset took 7 hour hours, which I thought was unusual, but then again this was my 1st time reseting a Windows 8 computer. Was that to long of a time? It did finish eventually .....however I can not put short cuts on my desktop , it says check disc to see if full.
And should my Bing Searches still be there? Searches for lawn care, and other things related show up in my Bing Search as search history?? Shouldn`t they have been erased?
Lastly, the PC gave 2 options to do the reset, 1 way was in the settings on the char bar, I just learned it was called that today. And the other way was the power button and the zero button which is what I used but I didn`t hold the zero button down long enough to hear the beep , although the directions ot continue did show up.
I am sorry for this long post. I will get better.

Thank You

reset is not the same as a factory restore ,that is why you will see things left in bing and other places ,you need to hit the right F (f11 or f12 )key to bring you to the boot options and choose restore ,not reset .

PC RESET is the new name.

PC RESET is the new name on Window 8, it is not the Recovey Point or Refresh, it is suppose to return the computer to out of box...

Reset PC

[h=3]System Recovery[/h]The System Recovery option does the following:

  • Reformats the system drive. The system drive is the hard drive where the current operating is installed (such as the C: drive).
  • Re-installs the original operating system on the system drive.
  • Re-installs all original hardware drivers.
  • Re-installs all original trial software.
  • Does not remove or disrupt any user created partitions.

In some cases, the System Recovery process may require more hard drive space that the system drive actually has. If the system drive is part of a partitioned hard drive, one or more partitions may be de-partitioned to give the System Recovery process the space it requires. Otherwise, user-created partitions will remain intact.

[h=3]Factory Reset[/h]The Factory Reset option does the following:

  • Removes all partitions.
  • Reformats all hard drives.
  • Re-installs the original operating system on the default system drive (usually the C: drive).
  • Re-installs all original hardware drivers.
  • Re-installs all original trial software.

This recovery option returns all of the notebook's software to the condition it was in at the time of purchase. Any programs you installed after purchase and any files you created will be removed entirely.

It does depend on manufacturer as to what their own recovery software will do, or how it works

In Win8, mouse down to the [DEL]left [/DEL] Bottom Right corner and click on Settings
Then click Change PC settings
Then Update and Recovery
then Recovery

You will have 3 options, but the main 2 are Refresh your PC and Remove Everything and reinstall
As long as it has access (and it should) to the manufacturers recovery environment,
The Remove everything will in fact, format the drive completely and reinstall windows or the OEM's Factory install.
Or at least it should.

Again, this is all based on how (in your case) Toshiba setup the system from the factory.
If you did not create or it did not come with recovery CD's, you may have to contact Toshiba to purchase the CD's
This way you could wipe out the entire drive and reinstall windows from CD.

There are other alternatives such as purchasing an OEM Windows 8.1 install cd from places like NewEgg.

Also note,, I have never seen Win8 take 7 hours to do a Refresh or Reset (Remove everything).
If you are ok with losing everything on the system,, I recommend going through settings and click on Remove everything and reinstall Windows.

Ummmm, Tepid, I believe that's the right corner instead of the left one . . . just sayin'.

Actually, it would be "de-mirroring" because image from right eye is seen with left side of the brain and vice-verso.
