In the last couple of months the time it takes my laptop to show the start screen, I have tried numerous ways to help increase the like disabling unimportant services and disabling some startup programs.

System One

  • OS
    Microsoft Windows 8 (build 9200), 64-bit
    Computer type
    Laptop
    CPU
AMD A4-5000 APU with Radeon(TM) HD Graphics

    Graphics Card(s)
    AMD Radeon HD 8330
    Browser
    Google Chrome
    Antivirus
    Avast!
Is that 5-10 minutes?

If so, try disconnecting everything from the laptop, like any USB or Bluetooth devices.

Cleanup the accumulated trash from the hard drive using CCleaner.

Also, use CCleaner/Tools/Startup then click on Save to text file... at lower right. Post contents of the saved startup.txt here please.

Have a look in Event Viewer events 101 and following what is causing it. You have to drill down this chain:

I should probably do this too, as my pc takes quite a while to boot up too.
Oddly enough, my laptop boots lightning quick.
