Hello

after i installed update KB2919355 (Windows 8.1 Pro x64 + WMC) extreme lags and freezes came out of nowhere!!its random and almost all the time gets worst when i do multitasking task manager shows its the system process > ntoskrnl.exe which is using too much disk so what i did is:

1-restore back and install updates again via windows update
2-restore and install via offline installer KB2919442> KB2919355> KB2932046> KB2937592> KB2938439> KB2934018 and today small update KB2959977
3-set power option to high performance
4-defrag the disk several times
5-disk clean(remove leftover update files about 1GB )
5-disk check (no errors found)
6-reinstall all drivers
7-clean registry via ccleaner
8-disable search index and superfetch services
9-full system scan ESET+Malwarebytes / disable all AV apps
10-add more pagefile on C / disable pagefile at all

nop!!nothing helps ...

windows is just ok before the update ntoskrnl.exe looks normal no 100% disk usage! all updates are installed correctly no errors during the update process no new app/driver ... but after the update KABOOM!!

so help me out folks ... please

oh and fresh windows is not an option!:sleepy:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
supported in offline servicing scenarios.

3 times and still this :| let me try DISM

Use the DISM command then, that should put it back in a working state. It can sometimes take about an hour to fully run. The Tutorial he linked to, shows two ways to do it, through Admin Command Prompt or Admin PowerShell. If Admin Command Prompt does not work, then use Admin Powershell, the commands are different so be careful.

Recently lost my Windows 8 on my main PC, had to go back to Windows 7.
So, SFC found errors but DISM reported none found? That is strange. I would do the following from here:

1- Restore back, test stability, reboot
2- If OK, run SFC and DISM (if necessary) to confirm/correct discrepancies and reboot
3- If OK (or after DISM corrections) apply available Windows Updates (no offline installer) and reboot
4- Test again after Steps 1 thru 3.

Please do not attempt any of the optimization steps (you attempted previously) until you have confirmed the update is now stable.

It's easier to format and install Windows 8.1 from the update ISOs that Microsoft released a few days ago with all the updates already integrated than to do the above repairs

SFC found no errors after DISM repair!

SFC:windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations
DISM checkhealth:no component store corruption detected

im gonna try disable all background apps and services enable them one by one and check if one of them is causing the problem

if i wouldnt lose any setting/customize/app i could install a fresh updated windows but im not sure how it works you know im not in a mode to install 90 apps and updates all over again!
