windows 8 keyboard problems - how to set up

Hi. New to forums in general and new to windows 8. Have checked the tutorials for turning off the touch pad/swiping/taps etc. off and that seems pretty straight forward. What I dont like is the touchiness of the whole package of windows 8. I am a fast typer and half way through a piece, I am assuming my hand hovers of the mouse pad or around my left baby finger and then I go to look and half of my text is gone and/or the cursor is in the wrong place. Is this all should have to do to fix this - is to turn these things off, or will I need to adjust the speed or something on the key board? I prefer the old fashioned key boards, not a gamers keyboard. Thanks.

I’ve heard of this problem before and the only solution is either turn the pad off or reduce its sensitivity, which I believe is OEM or pad manufacturer software. They should have a quick toggle shortcut key or icon to turn it off IMO.

I doubt it, but would shortening keystrokes help at all?

Never had a laptop and not understanding why users are blaming OS 8/8.1. Is this not the case with prior OSs as well?

All in all, I think it to be a bad design with physical placement of the pad being so close to the keys, especially for someone with larger hands.
