This is my first post and I am in a big mess.

Suddenly I cant access metro, apps, start menu, start button, I cant shut down computer, there is not run command box anymore

what to do??

What might cause this?

I installed classic shell to use the similar start menu as WIN 7 but I uninstalled it completely.

And still the start button is dead, apps are not accessable, any idea how to fix it?

but everything else works fine..... all other programs, games, browser....

I don't usually recommend it but press and hold the power button to shutdown, then see if reboot fixes it

I tried different restore points but always get a reply that it was not succesful because of antivirus was blocking some file...

all i have is windows defender installed

so how to disable that or run the win 8.1 in safe mode?

I hope this is not the newbie forum

Have you ever had other AV installed? Perhaps a remnant of that or a firewall rule that is blocking.

I suggest from now on you tone down the attitude otherwise you won't get any help.

where to download it??

Welcome to EightForums

Is this a OEM manufacturer's PC with Pre-installed Windows 8?

Have you made the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disks?

information   Information

We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD. (Windows 8 only)
http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/5132-recovery-drive-create-usb-flash-drive-windows-8-a.html
http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/2855-system-repair-disc-create-windows-8-a.html (Windows 8 only)

I would recommend you making the OEM manufacturer's Recovery DVD's or USB drive.
or
You can order the Microsoft official OEM Recovery disks from the OEM manufacturer's website.

where to download it??

I have serial key inside the bios, I dont have it on paper

can you give me a direct link to win 8.1 iso?

To get your Product Key run this vbs script:

View attachment ShowKey.vbs

there is not run command box anymore

Have you tried Windows Key+R to get RUN ?

Have you tried using Task Manager to create a new task ?
If needed press Ctrl+Alt+Delete keys to pull up Task Manager.

I fixed it through action icon, I clcked it an dmanaged to get into control panel, I updated win to last update and everything is fixed now. I also unistalled clasic shell program, i suspect that was the cause I guess.

But how to run that vbs file? Showkey.vbs?

I just clicked on it and nothing happened

Also I tried restore from several restore points, I always got error that one file could not be opened, that a virus killer is blocking the access or something, I have only defender installed

I had norton antivirus before but I uninstalled it with revo uninstall that cleans it really good...

RE:--vbs file

Did you unblock it ?

Right click it & choose Properties & click Unblock & Apply & OK & then try it. :)

You should see a tiny window like in option #5 in the tutorial.
