Hello,

I got a new laptop about 3 weeks ago or so and just today I noticed that it was charging but stuck at 95%

I took the charger out let it drain down to 58% then put it back in again only to see that it's doing the exact same thing but now stuck on 58%

I'm scared to drain the battery now

Any help is appreciated thanks

I would search their support forums looking for similar complaints. If you find a bunch perhaps it's a bad piece of hardware. I don't know your terms of purchase but I would guess there's a good chance you could make them take it back within 30 days. So I'd find out if there's some fault with that model before that time.

First off it helps to know the Manufacturer & model of the laptop, what OS you are running.

Hey thanks for the replies, the company i got it from have a forum so I am waiting for a response on there, however I will also try draining the battery completely as I have heard this can fix it.

The make and spec should all be in my profile :).

So basically you are just wasting our time. The majority of us do not look at the profiles. That is why we ask for it in a forum post.

Hi there

Try Removing the battery completely for around 30 mins. Then replace and see if it has the same fault. If it does return the laptop as it's then obviously faulty -- might only be a defective battery - a lot of batteries are "Smart" - with a bit of software in them to control charging etc. However it's up to the RETAILER to change it -- and as it's relatively new you DON'T NEED "EXTENDED WARRANTIES" - the retailer / manufacturer is responsible for at least 12 months -- or possibly 24 months.

HINT : If you paid with a Credit Card and can't get satisfaction from the retailer you CAN get back the price of the laptop from your Credit card - at least in the EU / EEA countries. This doesn't apply to debit card transactions though.

Cheers
jimbo

Apologies, but I didn't see any reason to list my specs in the post when it's very easy to click the drop down button in the bottom left of every users post which says 'My system specs'. I will update the post anyway.

That's the proper way. It will be there handy if you start another thread. Thanks for filling in the info. :)
