Win 81. 64 16Gb RAM
When an application lets me browse a folder to find a file, the window it opens always displays files in name order even though the sort by date column is set in Explorer. Eventually (ofter after two minutes!) the display rearranges itself into date order. Related is this:
Just using Windows and changing drives in Explorer there is a considerable lag either before the folder opens, or the folder opens empty and a progress bar c r a w l s along the address bar.
I have five hard drives and many folders have have sub folders with many files in each. So I know there are a lot of files to manage. But it seems as if Windows isn't prefetching or caching or something and is starting from scratch every time. Once windows has opened a folder, surely it should remember, even after a power-off?
