Solved Onedrive still points to Skydrive in Location.

I just upgraded to 8.1 update 1 officially via Technet. As expected, SkyDrive has been renamed to OneDrive. However, if I look at my OneDrive folders via Properties | Location it still points to a SkyDrive folder. Even software that I use to store backups on my OneDrive folder still point to SkyDrive even though there is no folder with that name. If I try to change it to OneDrive I get folder not found.

Is there some internal trickery being performed here? I though it might be a Junction point or hard link issue but I haven't seen any entries that would confirm this.

Any ideas on what's going on behind the scenes?

If you go to your C:\Users|your user name folder you'll also see a Skydrive folder and a OneDrive folder. If you have Office 365 installed, there will also be a 2nd OneDrive folder there. I deleted the SkyDrive folder and went to OneDrive, everything was still there. I then deleted the 2nd OneDrive folder and again everything still showed up in my OneDrive account. Thus, delete the extra folder/folders to save some ssd/hard drive space.

Update.

If you installed the Windows 8.1 Update in 8.1, then the location will still point the SkyDrive folder name despite it actually being named OneDrive.

If you did a direct clean install of Windows 8.1 Update from an ISO, then the location will point to the OneDrive folder name.

Actually it is quite easy to get the location to say OneDrive. I created a new folder called OneDrive where the original one is. For some reason it let me create it. I then used the OneDrive folder on the left side of File Manager to move the contents to my new folder. After that the folder had the cloud on it. I then deleted the original folder. Easy.

Is OneDrive working for you guys with the update installed? Before the update when I put some files in my OneDrive folder I would see the cloud icon transferring the files and they would appear in the cloud. Now when I do this the files aren't transferred. I have to manually Sync things my self.

I thought the problem was in renaming the old SkyDrive folder to OneDrive so I restored a disk image to a point after I installed the update but before I renamed the folder. Still a no go.

Yep, OneDrive still works and syncs fine for me with an updated 8.1 to Windows 8.1 Update. Sometimes it would take longer that others to sync though.

Do you have a metered connection?

Not metered. Is it working with just the updates applied or is it working on a clean install of the iso?

I did a clean install of the 8.1.1 iso and OneDrive works as it should. As is often the case with a clean install a few other nits have also cleared up.

Ever since the last SkyDrive update before it turned into OneDrive, I haven't been able to access OneNote either by the app or Desktop app but only on my Windows Phone or on Office Online... I wonder if it has something to do with OneDrive...
