Start folder

    Start folder

I was trying to record a macro in Office 2010 on my machine with Windows 8.1. I had my PERSONAL.XLSB file open at the time. I closed that file and when I when to record the macro to it the file was no longer listed. I tried to create a new file but I got an error message "Can not find the Start folder" and that was that. Where is the heck is the start folder. I believe it does not exist and 8.1 has issues with Office 2010. I had not luck with an An Access, so I though I'd try here.

I do not have that path. The first folder after my name is Contacts, Desktop, Documents, etc.

    Hello Silvera,

It is a hidden folder that would not be seen unless unhidden. If you like, you could run both shell commands below in the Run ( + R) dialog to open the Startup folder locations. The tutorial posted above can give you more details on this.

    (current account only)

    (All users)
    shell:common startup

Took awhile 8.1 works a bit different. The right side menu search got me to folder options [my son showed me its usefulness]. As expected show hidden was not selected, selected it and went back to explorer navigated to my name still not AppData. I clicked on my name and there was AD now visible. Clicked on it and then AppData appeared in the cascade just under name. Resolved. Thanks for hanging in there and to Bink for the tutorials.

I have a suggestion the right side search is very handy I used it to go directly to what I wanted with out a lot of other steps. This would be a very useful one and maybe replace a lot of common "can't find it" issues.

Again thanks guys I really appreciate the support!!!
