start screen windows 8.1 bar icons missing

hello to all the boys are pleased to be part of the forum

..... I have a problem I can not see more in the icon bar of the start screen of my windows 8.1 tried to explain to a previous restore point but without result ..... I do not want to reformat everything :cry:

I don't have that either, that was in Win 8, in 8.1 there's right click menu available for each tile for that. In newest update there are even more options.

On the bottom left hand side of start screen is a down arrow. Click on it and the all Apps screen comes up. Right click on the program you want to add to the start screen and click on add to start screen.

Welcome to Windows EightForums, dreaming.

I think you have Windows 8 there, not 8.1. There’s only “Customize” option on the 8.1 Start Screen bar as shown below. If you want to see what edition you have go to Control Panel > System. Hope that helps.

Thanks HippsieGypsie do not want to make mistakes now are to work as soon as I get home .... I look at it until yesterday because the bar was visible with all the functions and that this morning and I did not even completely disappeared and only the customize icon

That is normal for the Metro Interface. Now if you are in the true Desktop mode, which you can tell 8.1 to choose the Desktop over Metro, you will start with the older conventional interface. 8.1 Update 1 removes Metro all together from laptops, desktops, gives you the option for either with touchscreen convertible laptops, that can be used either as a laptop or tablet.

Not exactly, just by default starts up with either desktop or Start screen depending on the machine on which is installed with a choice of either one available still.

This is the first I've heard of this. Where did you get this information from?

It does make some changes. Removing the Modern (Metro) interface is not one of them.

That is very correct. Microsoft listened to the end users and realized they screwed up, forcing Metro onto users. It is basically killing their bottom line.

As I stated, if it is not a Tablet device or no Touchscreen detected, 8.1 Update 1 will automatically boot to the Metro Interface. It also brings to the users the ability to run Metro apps from within the desktop, as you can with Stardock Software's Metromix app.

If you right click on an empty space, you get only "Customize" in the right bottom, if you right click an App, you get as in the second snip.
