I am using Paragon Partition Manager to do a simple back up to my hd that is connected to my laptop through a usb port. Paragon finishes and tells be a reboot is needed to finish. I restart and look on the drive and the name of the backup is a folder...with nothing in it.

What could be wrong. Windows 8.1

Insufficent space

Will try Windows System Image. My plan is to copy the image to an ssd and install on my laptop.

Doesn't complete image. Returns error there isn't enough space of target drive. This drive has 1.25 tb of free space.

I think i understand Edwin. But looks like I can't get an image at this point. How would you move to an ssd in the laptop...only have room for one drive. If need be i could put the ssd in my enclosure and hook to usb.

What's the total volume of what you are trying to back up? If you are trying to back up the system and all your data and files, there may not be enough space on the backup drive.
You may need to get your data/files offline and just backup the system.

One more thing:
Are you running Windows 8 or 8.1?
(you may want to update your 'System Specs')

Using 8.1 Pro. Downloaded install...made a rescue cd. I don't know if I actually have an install file. I upgraded through the app store.

This seems to be an odd layout for my one internal hd. Paragon says the small partition is bootable. What can I do with this mess?Drive view.jpg
