Windows Explorer Not Responding Frequently

Ok so basically my annoying problem is when I click on file explorer, sometimes there are no icons, so then I close the windows for a bit. Reopen it, same problem. So I close it and reopen it a bit later, and it's fixed. When the problem is happening, clicking on any folder will bring me to basically the same blank screen, with green loading bar as you see below. I ran an anti-malware and anti-virus check, and that didn't uncover anything. Any thoughts?

I uninstalled my antivirus software (Bitdefender Free) to see if that was the culprit (I scanned my computer beforehand), and I have no Anti-Malware or Internet Security software but I also installed Anti-Malware software to see if I had any, and it came up with no results.

I ran sfc/ scannow and also got no errors.

You can also Sandbox it in Folder Options. Look for "Launch folder windows in separate process". That would stop it from causing Windows to lock up.

Try using just Windows Defender. Also rebuild the Index, along with Thumbnail cache. This has seem to have gotten worse in the past couple of weeks. I finally got so fed up with 8, that I have dumped it and just gone with using Xubuntu 12.04 64-bit now.
