Missing efi files

Is there a way to get the files needed for win 8.1. I messed up the efi system partition. The PC didn't come with a recovery cd. I can't find the flash drive where I may put the recovery on.

I'm not sure your aware but that download won't accept OEM keys, you need a valid Retail Product Key. If the OP has a factory OEM install he is out of luck for that download. :(

It's a long thread and you'd have to read though a ways to find that tidbit out. It's a shame really as those users are the ones that need the install media the most. I have no idea why Mocrosoft blocked OEM keys for that download.

Have you made the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disks?

We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD. (Windows 8 only)

I would recommend you making the OEM manufacturer's Recovery DVD's or USB drive.
or
You can order the Microsoft official OEM Recovery disks from the OEM manufacturer's website.

sounds like the best option is to look really hard for your lost usb drive

Yes, but you need Windows 7/8/8.1 installation media or Windows 8/8.1 recovery USB flash drive.

Solution to your PC needs to be repaired Error code: 0xc0000225

1. Diskpart
2. List volume
3. Select volume=2 (replace "2" with the number that is associated with the "ESP" label)
4. assign letter=Z
5. exit
6. bcdboot C:\windows /s Z: /f UEFI (replace C: with the volume letter that is named "OS")

Yeah I have been looking around for it but can not find it :\ I may just redo my system and say forget it. Just do Linux if the wife won't let me buy windows 8. I would buy the OEM version of Win8 if I could legally do so since I didn't build this system.

Yea Toshiba I THINK wants close to 40 for it. Could be wrong about the price, been a while since I looked. If I was going to pay that I would buy windows instead. Wish I could just find the files needed for the ESP.

Did you try what Genet posted in post no 8? If you do buy Windows 8.1 you should be able to use the DVD to install on that PC and save the new product code for use on another PC. My Microsoft MSDN Windows 8.0 ISO will read and use the embedded OEM product code in my laptops BIOS. It came with Windows 8.0 pre installed by ASUS. Assuming Windows 8.1 does the same thing, you shouldn't get prompted to enter a code during the install. I personally haven't confirmed that 8.1 does do this though, only 8.0.

I tried using a file recovery app, it found bootmgr.exe.mui. Would I be able to use the method mentioned above with a windows 7 recovery disc. I seen they have a 8.1 enterprise eval, might could try it right. I wish they had the regular 8.1 eval available.
