Can't Change to UK Keyboard Format

Hello there

I am unable to get my Windows 8.1 installation to use anything but the US keyboard format, despite the fact that all my keyboard and regional settings are UK.

In particular, I go into the "Keyboard" application in Control Panel, and English (United Kingdom) is listed as the first item.

N.B. English (United States) is listed as the 2nd item in this list, and I can't remove it (I remove it from the list, but it is put back in the list when I restart the keyboard application).

Whatever I do, the keyboard layout remains the same - for example, the " and @ keys are the wrong way round.

That looks OK. What I suggest though is go into Options on English (United states), then click on "Add Input Method" and add UK English. You will then have the option to remove the English US US input method.

You should then have both languages using the same keyboard - like mine above - English and French both using French Keyboard.

Thanks for your suggestion.

I have removed the US input method, and added the UK input method to the US option, as you have suggested.

This makes no difference to the problem.

Hello there
I stand correctly - the keyboard is now working correctly (there seemed to be a short delay before the change came into effect).
Thanks for your help. N.B. this look like a bug in Windows 8.1

It does look like a bug as the first screen print you sent should have worked. and you should also be able to delete US English completely if you don't want it. Glad its working though.

Try running SFC /scannow and then DISM - they sometimes fix odd problems.
