Can't recover any user docs or vids or music after restore

Did an upgrade to WIN 8.1 and everything kept freezing up. Took a brand new 1T portable drive and copied the entire (or what I thought was the entire) C drive.

Got into the boot screen and did a system restore. WIN 8 works fine, but my portable hard drive copy does not contain any of my documents, videos or pictures.

Tried Recuva and Puran on the original internal hard drive and still can't find any of the missing documents.

Is there hope?

TY in advance,
Jimmy

Can you find any files, regardless of type (e.g. dll, exe, ini, log, xml, etc.)?

This is what I have on my portable drive from the original. The recover folders contain attempts from Recuva and the like. What I don't see is the user folder which I believe is where the docs and vids used to be. copied portable drive.jpg

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

It appears that the only thing that was backed up, was the Recovery Partition. If that is the case, then your files are gone.
