IDK what the issue with these damn arrows are but sometimes they're there and other times they're not and only appear when you hover over them. Any fix?

Personally I do not like the arrows nor the word Shortcut before shortcuts. You can also use:

Shortcut Arrow - Change, Remove, or Restore - Windows 7 Help Forums

Shortcut Extension - Remove or Restore - Windows 7 Help Forums

Hate'em too, no arrows here!

Sorry to bump such an old thread but I have the same problem as the OP. The shortcut arrows are gone and only appear again when I hover my mouse over them or refresh. When I reboot, the shortcut arrows are gone again until I redo the actions mentioned. Is this a known bug in Windows 8.1?

Hello Johnny,

This sounds more like some sort of glitch with refresh. Possibly a graphics driver causing it?? You might see if using different driver versions (latest or older) may help.

I've been having this bug with 3 different nvidia WHQL drivers. Even a reformat didn't fix it. Do you have this bug? I'm curious if it's ocurring for everyone who installed Windows 8.1 or not.

I don't have the issue with the latest NIVIDIA driver in 8.1.

Is that the 335.23 WHQL driver or the 337.50 BETA? I'm not so fond of installing BETA drivers so I guess I'll have to wait and hope for it to be fixed in the next WHQL driver.

Thanks for your info, I guess it only hits specific systems. Maybe a thread at microsoft.com would make them fix it with an update.

May I butt in here so I don't have to make another thread just for a small issue?
When trying same trick to remove arrows as in Win 7, all I get is empty white square where arrow was, can't get rid of whole thing and as you may know by now, I'm not great fan of programs that mess about my system.

Hey Mike,

Did you test to see how the other options may work instead to hopefully have better results?

Tried reg hacks but this time it produced no results at all. With Vista Shortcut Manager, no arrow setting managed to loose most icons but on Light Arrow I got smaller arrows which do not cover quoter of the icons, looks more presentable now.

That's good to hear. If you like, you could also substitute to use any .ico file you like for the overlay.

No thanks, no need to do anything more, for the short time I spend on desktop itself, it's no use bothering any more. Those large green arrows were just too ugly, that's all.
