Hi!
I recently tried the "sfc /scannow" command. It said it fixed corruptions and after a restart a "Windows 8.1 Pro" watermark showed. I tried to remove it using the My_WCP_Watermark_Editor.exe app. However, it gave me errors in various Modern Apps like the Windows Store app wherein it would crash whenever I type something in the search bar. I did the "sfc /scannow" command again and it fixed the Modern Apps errors but the watermark appeared again. Please help me remove this watermark it is very annoying. Please don't tell me to activate my Windows because it is already activated. I can use the Personalization settings in the start screen.
It added the "Test Mode" and the "Build 9600" because I accidentally clicked the apply settings the first time opening the app. There must be some way to remove the annoying watermark
Thanks!

Is it activated with a legitimate windows product key? If no, your problems are obviously the result of piracy and cannot be fixed.

If you did purchase a legitimate windows 8 product key, then I would strongly urge you to reinstall using your purchased legitimate windows 8 DVD, because something major is going on. Save all your files, etc and begin here: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/2299-clean-install-windows-8-a.html

If you prefer, you might wait for a second opinion from another member :)

Yep, it is. I activated it by phone. Isn't there anything I can do to remove the watermark without reinstalling? It is a huge hassle. The watermark editor app does something to the Modern Apps and I thought maybe there's a manual way to do it.

This is what it looks like because of the default text filled up with the watermark editor when I accidentaly clicked the apply settings. The original watermark is only "Windows 8.1 Pro" only

Honestly, it sounds like you are using programs to mask the true function of windows... why? That will only create problems, and leads me to think you are pirating the OS. If that weren't the case, wouldn't you just call MS again to ask them why you're having problems now after the phone call? They would jump to fix their mistake. It sounds like you are tinkering and you shouldn't be. That is why I recommend a reinstall.

Actually I did and they kept telling me about the secureboot watermark and that's not the watermark I have. They said they'll keep me posted. But I doubt that they will reply again. I saw other forums abput tibkering some dll file but the instructions weren't clear.

Thanks for replying btw

I thought it can be resolved without re installing windows. It is only the watermark that is wrong and the watermark editor does something to some Modern apps to malfunction. Please let there be a way to solve this without the hassle of re installing Windows. :)))

I am unsure of such a method. You might, however, wait for someone else to reply who may know the answer. Sorry! :(

Hello chilisausage, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Since this is a "test mode" watermark, you should be able to use the same tutorial below in Windows 8 to get out of test mode.

“Test Mode Windows 7 Build 7601" Watermark - Remove from Desktop - Windows 7 Help Forums

Hope this helps, :)
Shawn

Wow, I can't believe this solved the problem and I wasn't able to find this solution myself. Thanks bro.

You're most welcome. I'm glad it could help. :)
