Most of my gadgets are broken.....

I'm not a big fan of the gadgets that ship with Window releases. Instead I tend to pick up a few from third party sources such as Addgadget.com or OrbLog » Sidebar Gadgets.

However, since I upgraded to the CP from DP, most of these third party gadgets are working properly.

One of my favorites: 7bar, is particularly screwed up. It gives me an error like this
Capture.PNG

All of the others that I have tried relate to hardware monitoring.

Addgadget.com's network meter for example can't see any of my network adapters.

The GPU Observer from blog.orbmu2k.de can't even detect a GPU.

I know that Microsoft has stopped hosting most of the Desktop Gadgets on their site but have they also dropped support, period?

Microsoft's Dilemma

If you could use gadgets, you'd never have to use Metro.

You can see their dilemma. ;)

One of the gadget's devs responded to my email. It seems that Dot net framework 2.0 is not longer pre-installed. Sure enough, once I had that, it worked fine....
