Solved Can't RIP CD to disc with Windows Media Player

I am trying to copy a CD to disc using Media Player. When I try to set the destination location by clicking CHANGE in Rip settings/More options/Rip music to this location, nothing happens. I can't set a location. When I click the Rip CD button, I get the message "Windows Media Player cannot find the file. If you are trying to play, burn, or sync an item that is in your library, the item might point to a file that has been moved, renamed, or deleted."

The Media Player sees the CD and can play the tracks from the CD, so it's not that it can't find the CD.

Assistance is appreciated in resolving this.

I don't think Windows Media Player is capable of 'cloning', I think you'll have to rip it to files first then burn those files to a disc.

not something I have done for a few years now but I have no problem ripping the cd or changing the location ,maybe restart media player after you change the location and open it again .

don't think they are trying to clone the disk ,just rip music to computer

good choice ,has a lot more options than media player ,been years since I used that to ,think ill download it now ,thanks for the link,

edit =it comes with added toolbar/search programs be sure to do custom install and click the decline icon

IS THERE A WAY TO REINSTALL MEDIA PLAYER? Maybe it's corrupted.

Have you TRIED to change location, with audiograbber...??
Or is there some reason that you absolutely have to use Windows Media Player...???(personally, I would absolutely never touch Windows Media Player for any reason, but that's just me.)

Sorry I misunderstood you earlier. Have a look and see if you have a folder included in your destination library:
In WMP drop down 'Organize'▼'Manage libraries'►'Music', see if there is a folder included.

the default location is the music folder ,works for me ,as the rip process creates a folder with the artist name on it .

you can turn it off and reboot computer ,and then go turn it back on
go to programs and features .in control panel ,and on the left go to turn on windows features on and off ,its in the media section
not likely it will do anything but cant hurt to try

There were Unavailable Folders in the WMP drop down 'Organize'▼'Manage libraries'►'Music'. I removed them and WMP works!

I am having the same problem, and would like to know. To me downloading a second Media Player is like giving up. With each issue I work through with Windows 8.1 I learn more about my computer.

Did you do steps in post #12 and #13?
