Hi, Welcome to the forums.

As per MS site, 2 GB RAM is required to run Win 8.1 (64 bit). System requirements - Microsoft Windows

But, that does not mean that it will not run on 2 GB RAM. It might be slow, but certainly not reboot the PC. What version do you have? 32 or 64 bit? Here's how you can check it.

1. Open the Windows 8 Control Panel.
2. Touch or click on System and Security within Control Panel.
3. With the System and Security window now open, click or touch System.
4. With the System applet now open, titled View basic information about your computer, find the System area, located under the large Windows 8 logo.

Rebooting can be caused by lot of reasons. One of the reasons that comes to my mind is, your PC might be installing updates and it reboots automatically. Here is a small link to guide you on how to disable auto shutdown. How to Stop Windows From Automatically Restarting After an Update

USE this ONLY if your PC is downloading updates and rebooting itself.

First thing I will suggest to you is take out the RAM stick you currently have and if possible get a spare stick from your friends and try to log on with that. If the PC does not reboot, then we are sure that you need to do some shopping for RAM.
Else, you can check for any loose connections inside the PC cabinet. Check for any cable that might not be connected properly or is loose. As you mentioned that the issue started after you unplugged the RAM stick. So, some hardware could have been loosened.

When you say "Force restart" do you mean whole computer restarts, from BIOS up or just windows restarts as you would do it manually, I mean, gets out of windows normally or everything goes blank immediately ?
If it shuts down completely, without a blue screen then it's most probably something wrong with hardware. You say that you had problems with one stick of memory (RAM), it is quite possible you have problem with the other one too or motherboard. That would be my first suspect. There's also a host of problems with hardware that could be causing problems like that, from faulty power supply to overheating. You can try changing memory slot for the beginning and use something like " http://www.tomsguide.com/us/download/Hiren-s-Boot-CD,0301-51033.html", which has programs to check memory and other parts.
