Solved To Keep, or Not To Keep Metro?

When you get your hand on the Consumer Preview of Windows 8, do you intend to keep Metro, or deactivate (given the option still exists)? As far as I know, you could do this in the Developer Preview with either a registry change, or a third part application. The end result would be a deactivated Metro UI, and a normal, Windows 7 style, Start menu in its place.

I will not disable Metro UI, unless that the "One Click ON/OFF Metro" option works for the CP

I would keep the Metro because it's very easy to switch between Metro and Desktop view, I like Metro UI.

Well, I am glad someone finds it useful. I find it annoying and in the way. Especially since I don't have a touch PC or tablet. If I had a tablet, Metro would be perfect. Anyway, just seeing what others intend to do with it. :)

Certainly not two sitting on the taskbar side by side. That'd just look clunky and ridiculous. However, having the option to disable Metro on the desktop should be something that Microsoft puts in the control panel.

If, at the release candidate, Metro isn't able to be disabled without some sort of tweak, I will be moving over to Linux permanently. Or unless I can get used to Metro and actually decide I really do like it. Time will tell.

Well, yes, it is just my opinion. However, I stand by it.

Can you give me an example of a way that you'd do it so that way it actually looked good? The idea is great. Just, the aesthetics of it don't seem plausible if you're after something pleasing to the eye.

lol. Ya, I usually just leave my laptop on. However, I usually don't use sleep. It's either shut down, or hibernate. And the hibernation-shutdown feature in Windows 8, I will be shutting that off. I don't want a possible slow down when I'm using it just because it never got a proper shutdown.

That Metro will kill win 8, for the PC user.

No it won't really. I love it I have a place to neatly organize a billion pieces of software for quick access that is easy to look at. You have to know how to set metro up for use on a pc with no touch input. If you were a graphic designer this is the absolute dream version of windows because you would be working from a highly sensitive touch input all the time as your primary display anyhow. I am picturing the Wacom Cintiq 24HD anyone else? I am also picturing a 3d secondary display just because. This OS has the potential to change the way we interact with a PC drastically almost overnight and will be the standard for years to come. Just watch and see. unless hologram monitors come out in a year and windows get another drastic overhaul that takes advantage of it...

Buy hey I almost forget to mention that if anything changes your resolution metro stays exactly the way you put it. The icons don't magically jump all over the damned place and need rearranged every time that happens. But hey you metro users can suffer on with a UI that is as old as I am I will be enjoying modern technology and saving time and effort while I work.
