Mouse pointer misbehavior

Hi:)

Does anybody know what to do beside checking the option "Automatically move pointer to default..." to make the mouse pointer actually move to the default button (move as in always... not only on some dialogs).

I find that misbehavior rather irritating... I hope that someone can provide a solution.

Thanks in advance for any creative solution ;)

Has to be coded. There is no default "default" button or input area. Something like:

For instance, one of my pages has this: document.forms[0].data.focus()

At least I believe that's how it works.

I am not talking about web pages, I continuously see my mouse (actually touchpad) cursor not snapping to the default button in several dialog boxes.

One of the many examples (please test this on your system and tell me whether it works for you): Merge a reg file, you double-click the reg file and the first dialog (that says "Are you sure you want to continue?") pops up and the cursor is not snapped to the default button. Then you click "Yes" and the second dialog (that says "The keys... have been successfully added to the registry") pops up and again the cursor is not snapped to the (OK) default button GRRRRR.

Well, then you are lucky, it looks like that on your system the mouse pointer works properly :)

Is that a notebook or a tablet?
Do you use an external mouse or a touchpad?
Which version of Win 8.1 Core/Pro/Ent?
Any hotfixes installed?

Thanks

Well it appears that there is quite a lot of software/hardware difference since I am running Win 8.1 Pro on an Asus notebook and I only use the integrated touchpad.

I did try a wired mouse and the results are the same :(

Did you install any particular hotfix on your Lenovo desktop?

I understood that and that's why in my previous post I wrote "it appears that there is quite a lot of software/hardware difference" (I use Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit on a notebook and you use Windows 8 Pro 64 bit on a desktop).

Thanks for having confirmed that you applied all updates/hotfixes.

This sounds like a video driver problem to me, more than a mouse problem. Maybe check for update driver on the manufacturers web site?

I am going to check all drivers (not only the video one) but I fear that it might be something else since I just bought the notebook not even 2 months ago so I can hardly think its divers are outdated.

Try creating a new userid just to test with, see if it behaves any differently.
