I am trying to extend the taskbar to my 2nd monitor on Windows 8.1

I tried to use the tutorial on this site but I don't have any of those options. This is what it looks like for me:

Untitled.jpg

Is there any other way? Thank you.

PS - If it makes a difference: Primary computer resolution: 3200 x 1800
2nd monitor: 1920 x 1200

I personally use Ultramon, which is fully Win8 compatible - however as this is commercial software, you may wish to check out alternatives

UltraMon Alternative and Competitors list some, I cannot recommend any of these from experience but it is at least a start point

How is the second display hooked up? Is your desktop extended across both displays? Do both displays show up in the Display screen in control panel?

As I run three monitors I checked to see if I have the ability to do this, and in my task bar "Properties Windows" there is the choice of whether or not to span across all screens, and yes it is available. So not sure why you aren't able to do so unless you do not so setup correctly. Hope you find your problem.

I also run three monitors and have my taskbar spanned across all three. On my laptop with only the built in display connected, all I see are the options shown in the OP's screen shot. It looks like you only get the extra options if you have more than one monitor setup. That's why I asked the OP how his second monitor is setup. Maybe his Windows thinks there is only one?

To answer some Q's:

1) Dell XPS 15 - the new one with QHD resolution.

2) The monitor is connected via HDMI. I have it "extended" and Windows detects it just fine. But still no option to extend the taskbar.

For those that have it working, are you using Windows 8 or 8.1? Not sure if that makes a difference?

I'm doing it on my 8.1 desktop, I'm pretty sure it was also an option in Windows 8.0. I don't think 7 had that option though, I can't remember at the moment.
