So, I've been trying to find some information about the future of PC gaming and Windows 8 and I kept coming across the Xbox LIVE integration. That made me think because according to Microsoft, "Live will be built into the PC. It will be the service where you get your entertainment." And that will be music, video, and of course games for Windows.

That right there seems like what Windows Media Center is minus gaming. The Xbox market is fairly vast in terms of content, from the Zune market for video and music, and gaming and game addons from the Xbox marketplace. We already know that Microsoft consolidated Games for Windows in the Xbox Live brand, and we know that Microsoft will be expounding on the Xbox and how that is the center of entertainment in many homes these day and we also know that Microsoft might be starting a new music servce. The Xbox brand itself is synonomous with gaming and entertainment.

Methinks this the future of PC entertainment as well...

Well I don't use XBox and I'd rather stick with Windows Media Center. When we hear the XBox LIVE, doesnt it sound so specific? As if its primarily focused on the XBox thing rather than the other stuff that has to do with entertainment? Windows Media Center sounds to me as if the other areas of entertainment are included as well because its generic. I watch TV on WMC almost every night and I'd rather want it stay that way and have improvements in the future that would not compromise all other media functions.
