Solved Windows reserved partition out of memory warning

I am dual booting my dell e6420, 8 gb ram. I have windows 8 on my HD and windows 8 on my ssd. Since I do live audio work, I keep the ssd system super clean. It doesn't get on the net, etc.

Recently windows prompted me to upgrade my hd os from 8 to 8.1, which I did. Since then, every few minutes, I get a popup saying I have Low disk space on my system reserved partition. It's 300 mb, which seems larger than most, but there is indeed only 1 mb free. But of course when I run disk cleanup, there is nothing that can be deleted!

It's now popping up about every 2 minutes. Very annoying.

I have 2 os's, do I even need the srp? But why on earth would it run out of memory? Maybe because of the dual boot? But I'd think they'd account for that.

Any tips welcome..... should I expand the volume? That just seemed a little dangerous, and hopefully unnecessary.

Could you open Disk Management and use the snipping tool to take a picture of your window, including the graphical representation of the partitions? You can attach it using the advanced replies.

Maybe it will help see what has happened, since a Windows 8.1 upgrade may add a partition of 350 MB to replace the 300 MB one.

That can happen if the system reserved partition somehow gets a drive letter assigned to it. It's normally a hidden partition with no drive letter. When hidden you don't get that message. Open disk management and see if it has a drive letter, if it does remove it and see if the warning goes away.

I did indeed have a drive letter assigned. Not sure when or how that happened, but maybe a symptom of dual boot.

Likely a side effect of the dual boot. Did removing the drive letter kill the low disk space warning?
