Hello Zaref,

You might see if you may be able to recover it using the free program Recuva.

Hope this helps, :)

I believe there is an option called deep scanning in that recuva program, open the program up again and make sure you have deep scan checked and then check the whole drive, it will take a long time but it might show you more results, and then you can search the results for the exact program.

Recently lost my Windows 8 on my main PC, had to go back to Windows 7.
i'll tell you
it showed parts of the file -although it was a single file-
it's name was blahblah.exe
the program showed blahblah.exe12 , blahblah.exe13 ,blahblah.exe14
i restored all of them but they were no larger than 100 mega

That was probably due to the way that you download the file, if it came in some kind of newsgroup message the binaries would've been broken up into many files so you have to combine them all to get The exe file.

There used to be a program I used for the newsgroups called agent, and it would assemble the messages that I downloaded into one binary and maybe there's a way you could use that program to combine those pieces to make the full EXE, It is been years since I've used this so I'm not sure how it would work.

Good, I'm glad you got it. We who have been used to High BW forget what it was like to download files in a Dial-Up configuration. Since it could not be done in one session (Especially at 14.4kbps), we had download managers that would resume our downloads when we logged in. It was built in to the Terminal Program we used... A special Dos Program that hooked into Wildcat BBS servers.

There used to be a few "Download Manager/Helper" apps that could be used for slow connections, but I can't find them anymore. They would remember your downloads and resume if you got cut off- Ah, it was called "GetRight" - If you have trouble like this in the future, try "GetRight".
