Hi everyone

I am facing a strange issue.

My screen seems to have a grey filter overlaying it. See attached.

When i booted it in safe mode, the screen is showing the right vibrant colors. When i booted it back to normal mode, the screen is greyish but strangely the mouse is showing the correct white color.

I have googled across numerous website but none of them bring me closer to the issue. I have read the thread, http://www.eightforums.com/general-support/22623-personalize-suddenly-greyed-out.html
but this is not what i encountered. The options or buttons or selections did not grey out, it affects the screen only.

I cannot afford a system restore because i shared this laptop with my gf.

Neither image is from Safe Mode

You weren't in Safe Mode in that right screenshot. Safe Mode doesn't display your wallpaper and it says Safe Mode in the corner's. Try updating your video driver's and see what happens.

Dear brkkab123

I showed the 2 screenshots when I am in normal mode, before and after.

I know that when i am in safe mode, there will be a label on the top left corner and the wallpaper will be removed.

The problem that I have encountered is as shown in the right screen. Why is the screen grey out??
If you have stated it is the graphic card issue, I have already updated it with the latest. I have also tried rolling back to the default. It does not work.

And I have also stated the mouse is showing the correct color. If it has something to do with graphic driver, then the mouse will be showing grey color instead of white.

Well then, either your girlfriend or you probably accidently changed your display setting's (I/e: brightness, contrast, etc. ). It could also be that your girlfriend accidently ran the display calibration utility that's in Windows 8 & 8.1 and messed thing's up there. It could also be a hardware issue. Motherboard, display, etc. starting to go bad. Has anybody dropped or got the laptop wet ?
