Solved Pictures folder dissappeared from libraries list?

Hi all,

First time poster here and new user of Windows 8.1. I built a new computer yesterday, and installed Windows 8.1. I had previously run Windows 7 on my older computer.

Everything was working great, till today I decided to move my documents, pictures, music, and video folders to a different drive. I succeeded fine with documents, music, and video, however pictures seem to be a little messed up.

Please see the below screenshot:



At the top, you will see it lists folders for music twice, both folders show my music files in them. I realize these are probably just pointers to the music folder, but now I have music twice, and pictures is not up there.

However, when I check to show libraries in the navigation pane, you will on the same screen shot, it does list documents, music, pictures, and video there as it should.

So any idea what I did, or better yet on how I can get those folders back up at the top as they should be?

Hello Don, and welcome to Eight Forums.

You could use OPTION TWO in the tutorial below to restore the default location of your Pictures folder. After all is well with it again, you could move it where you like again.

I just finished and it worked like a champ, thank you so much!!

One last question if I may, just to help me clarify as I was trying to do this when apparently I messed it up:

My actually files that I want the documents/videos/pictures to show, are on a another physical drive. So do I need to select the " find target" option under location, or " move" option?

Well actually double checking, and not sure how this happened , the music files are indeed on my C drive, and not on the other drive. The documents, videos, and pictures are on the other drive. This is my drive G

I would like all of my files for these 4 folders, stored on drive G.

It could have just been a small mistake that caused the Music folder to not move properly. I wouldn't worry about it. If you like, the tutorial below can help show you more on how to move the folder to G:.
