Solved Can't access Safe Mode or run chkdsk

Win 8 Pro..I am trying to fix an error that is causing my desktop to randomlly reboot. I wanted to run chkdsk from safe mode, however, tapping f8 doesn't work for me. Tried to restore a backup and paragon merged all the drives into one file and says the structure is different and I may lose data. Win 8 will not let me stop chkdsk with any key press. Kind of stumped what to do next. TIA

Check the hard drive with the manufacturer's diagnostic tools.

Now pc boots to safemode every time. My system is on an ssd so I can't run the hdd diagnotics. On the plus side chkdsk and scannow did finished as did ms malious removal tool.

I have run win 8 rescue disk and it was no help. I tried doing the reverse of what I did to get in to safe mode and it didn't work.

Look at System Configuration, boot tab, see if it's now set to do a Safe boot every time?
