LogonUI.exe appcrash after update to Win8.1

After I updated to Windows 8.1 the computer does not seem to be able to start up correct.
Just before the logon screen should appear, the screen goes Black, goes to blue again and to on.

I can start up in safe mode and have in the logfiles nailed the problem to be the logonUI.exe which chrashes.

I cannot roll back to before the win8.1 install as this seems not possible in safe mode, nor in advanced start up mode using F8.

Have not been able to find a fix - anyone that can help ??

Hi David,

I only have win7 installation disks. I updated online from win7 to win8.
I must admit (stupid as I am) that I relied on the "recory/restore point" (not sure the english name for it).
When trying to use recovery point from advanced start up, I get the notice that there aint any :-(

I would hate reverting all the way back to win7 :-(

Thanks for trying to help me out - I appreciate it a lot :)

You could call Dell on the phone & see if they have a solution.

They officially don't support win8 on XT2, but have been running very fine.

I installed it from Windows Store - As it went bad, I can not recommend that. I propose you ensure that you
1. Have an external back up
2. have a recovery DVD or USB
3. Note down your Win 8 license key

When I updated to Win 8, I also did it online and it worked. Bluetooth driver is not supported, but I found some support on the net after some month and find out that another bluetooth driver should work - and it did. I can not give you the details, as I do not have them. I might be able to find it.
Also the N-trig driver have caused problems. It might be solved now as I updated to Win8 just after the release of it. I recommend you update that to the newest driver before you update to Win8.

Good luck

The more I read about these failures on Systems UPGRADED through the store, the mroe I am convinced something is wrong with whatever engine they built to run the Upgrade.

There are install disks for 8.1 out there, I looked hard and found them - You can repair your installation if you can find the exact version you installed.
