backgroundtaskhost question

was wondering if there was a way to turn this service off so it doesnt download or upload just wondering since its always effecting online games cause of high latency. i checked if it was windows update but that wasnt the cause.
im using windows 8. does any have any ideas and thanks

As far as I can tell , it's a system file used to keep the metro apps open while you are 'elsewhere' in the OS, I'm not sure you can stop it loading.
