EIGHT - Switch to Seven

I posted 2 days ago but its gone~ Here we go again. Asus q200 - laptop running 2013 Office and Win 8. Totally frustrating. So, can we change from 8 to 7?

Also, how do we set up Win 7 start up to do away with the wide screen thing? We understand we compromise/lose the ability to use touchscreen - but its worth it to get rid of 8. Thanks for your info we appreciate it. Debra 1533

Debra, you will most likely get your answer on the Asus support forum. Google it... You can easily "upgrade" to Win7, but you might have trouble finding drivers.

Have no idea what the widescreen thing is you're talking about.

Just install classic shell.... it'll turn 8 into 7....so to speak... Small, and free.... Classic Shell - Start menu and other Windows enhancements
Agree (or choose another of the start menu programs). Then delete a bunch of the useless apps & do some cleanup here and there, and 8 becomes a quite nice 7.2, never having to visit or deal with the metro screen. And, in case of changing opinions or needs, the 'metromodern' will still be available as an option.

I agree Classic Shell is the answer for you. Also there are some "gpedit" that will help, like removing the lock screen. Just google them lots of sources pick one you trust! Then to prevent the Apps from running just check your default programs and change your file extensions to open your desk top programs.
essentially you can boot straight to log on. to your desktop. All the hot corners and charms bar can be turned off. I even have my trusty old Gadgets running on my desktop. The hardest part is finding all the file ext and directing them to open desktop programs rather than the fricken APPs Which is I think what you mean by the widescreen thing you are talking about?

My desktop which I go to directly from boot via log on.
Screenshot 2013-12-05 07.40.41.png All my links open up desktop programs. I know it looks just like it did on win 7. my start button looks the same and my start menu also is like win 7
