Solved Win 8 keeps asking for password when booting!

Every time I boot win 8 says my password is incorrect and I have to manually type it in order to continue booting. I Am using Classic Shell. I dont want my laptop to ask for a password. With Classic Shell installed I got rid of charms bar and now I don't know how to make my laptop stop asking for a password. I am so frustrated I want to throw it out of the window and go buy a win 7 laptop. PLEASE help!

Sounds like the password entered in userpasswords2 is wrong....

try resetting it back to what it should be.

Turn on automatic logon


it says it's for vista but it's the same in windows 8/8.1

This is a standalone laptop. It is neither in a workgroup nor a domain.

Or use our own (Brink) tutorial

Follow the instructions for the workgroup option...should work.

I tried everything but it still asks for a password. I am frustrated! I suffered a brain seizure a few years back and it is very difficult for me to remember passwords. Why did MS make it so difficult to just boot directly? I do not have sensitive data in my laptop. PLEASE help!

PS: I have a Microsoft account. Could this be the reason it keeps asking for a password?

Look VERY carefully at the tutorial. I am sure you are doing something wrong, or, you have mistyped, or forgotten (?) your original password.

I used the correct password and that is how I have booted. I did not have this problem until I updated a few days ago.

Try a "System Restore".

SOLVED! Thank you all. I tried an internet search and found how to change from not use Microsoft account when booting. I created an account and unchecked the box that requires password and now I boot directly to desktop. However now my laptop takes a very long time to boot. But you cannot have your pie and eat it too

No matter. I am used to slow boots from win 7 on my desktop. Once more thank you all for spending your time to try and help me!
