Monitor question! (Sorry in advance if this is stupid!)

OK, say I install Windows 8.1. Will any monitor work with it, IE, the touch-screen capabilities?

If and only if the monitor has touch-screen capabilities. The OS only supplies the necessary software but the monitor has to have the physical aspect of touch built in order for the touch-screen to be functional.

Any monitor will work as long as you have any special drivers the monitor may need. Most operate on generic drivers that come with windows. Not all touch screens work with windows 8 or 8.1. It depends on whether the maker has developed drivers for it.

It isn't clear from what you said but you should know that not all monitors are touchscreen. To know for sure you would have to check with your monitor specs to be sure it is touch screen. Then you would have to check with the maker to be sure it will work on 8/8.1

Unless you buy a Tablet or Laptop that has one... The Biggest one I ever saw was on an Acer "AIO" Computer, it was about 26" and the Display also housed the hard drives, DVD drives, and everything else. If you really want one, the guy who had that machine, "rented it to own" from someplace, it was a great machine except for the 4 core Atom processor. But the payments were like 25 bucks a month.
