I'm afraid the only way to roll back to Windows XP is to reinstall it because you cannot uninstall the Developer Preview and expect your computer to revert to what it was before. You have to format the drive where the Developer Preview is installed and install a new OS.

You should have used a dual boot configuration like me but I'm not sure if that would work on Windows XP and Windows 8 Developer Preview.

Anyway, I find Metro apps kind of lacking functionality because they don't have minimize and close buttons. You have to press the Windows button to get back to the Metro interface. Desktop apps are way better if your are not using any touchscreen.

Not sure it will work for you, but I rolled back to Win 7 by using the Repair disk, and invoking the system backup I did just prior to installing Win 8. You did do a backup?
