Everyone:

Alright Eight Forums. I was looking for something, and hoping that you guys could find a resolution for me. I want to password protect my folders in Windows 8.1 (NTFS). How can I do it? Other ideas are also appreciated. I do not want to hide the folder, but I want to implement a password.

Thanks

Thanks for everything David,

- When I goto the Sharing Tab,

- Click on advance Advance Tab

- I receive the image with my desktop populated. I was expecting to see some password screen. I do not have a message called
'Password Protection. People must have a user account and password for this computer to access shared folders.

- When I click on the Network and Sharing Center hyperlink, I receive the the other attachment that uploaded.

Overall, I was able to encrypt my folders from the general tab, so again thanks. Hopefully, I was clear. I just wish that you could just create a password for folders, just like you can in Excel, but encrypt is most likely better, but takes a couple steps for me, and also something new. :)

David:

When I rebooted my machine, I noticed an encryption icon in my status tray. I had some options, and followed the defaults, where I then had to insert a password, so I know I am golden. I guess that the password process for folders from the certificate store is not instantaneous, or I just did not see it right away. Of course, I do not understand all of the mechanisms or options, but it worked.

I am most likely going to do it again in the future.
