Solved Make a keyboard primary

Hi. I have two keyboards loaded in Windows 8 Pro: US English , and US International. How do I make US International primary? The examples given always list English and Danish for instance, so you can move one up or down. But in my case, I always see one keyboard, even though both are active. Any ideas or tips? Thanks in advance.

Go to language options and add another input method to your language. If you don't like the order remove the earlier one and re-add as they seem to be saved in the order you add them. You can then swith using the :winkey: + space bar shortcut.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your note. The outlined method works well for changing to 'other language' keyboards, but for some reason does not allow me to access the US International keyboard. ( Presently I have default & only language as US english) Perhaps I should add UK English or Italian and try again.
Ciao

Sorry about that - I added English keyboard as a second one to French and that worked. Adding a second language would work but perhaps Jamican English would have more similar spellings to US that UK...

Good idea. Thanks. Obviously experimentation is the order of the day - unlike windows 7 where it is so easy and effective.

Each language has several different settings for keyboard under it's options. There's a preview for each one too.

Sorry., Grump1e. Was on a trip with no internet access. I see you got it to work. Great. As for me, I experimented with language options, as indicated above. I strictly use the US English International keyboard after adding it and then deleting the US English one and it works great for me. Can do the accents with the alt key. I work very often in French-Spanish-German.
