Hi there
If I want to download say any free app from the store I get asked - first to confirm my password on the local account -- no big deal with that, then I have to set up a Ms account -- well I can even live with that I suppose --after all I set up a google account to download phone apps

-- but what Galls me is that it says "We need this info to be able to sync the apps across your various devices --- THERE'S NO WAY TO DISABLE THIS OPTION -- I might just want to download the application to a Stand alone PC - I don't necessarily want it synced to 10 other PC's on the Lan or 5 mobile phones !!!!.

I also don't want automatic upgrades too with these types of apps --I've found often on Android that an updated version often performs worse than the previous version or the interface has changed to change the app horribly.

At least with most android applications you can disable a lot of those settings.

Cheers
jimbo

Perhaps you should ask whether something can be done prior to jumping to the conclusion that it can't.. and then proceeding to write a tirade based on this incorrect assumption...

Having arrived here seeking information on why I'm seeing an error:

"Windows Store failed to sync machine licenses. Result code 0x80070002"

(Noting that 'Event Log Online Help' presents me with:

We're sorry, but the page you requested could not be found. You can search on TechNet for more information.

)

... and bearing in mind that I have absolutely no interest in ever visiting the MS online store, I am left thinking that perhaps Microsoft ought to think twice before it builds into its operating system an unneeded service that wastes the user's time unnecessarily without first politely asking the user whether that service is required.

Furthermore, it seems to me that the OP is entitled to his opinion.

Just a thought...

Not a big fan of the required MS Account either... I really don't like my history and things being tracked.. Stick to a local account.. And if you find an app you like just sign into that app..

Be afraid: be very, very afraid.

Hi there

[...]
I've found often on Android that an updated version often performs worse than the previous version or the interface has changed to change the app horribly.

This is my experience with any number of software applications over the last thirty years. And I'm not looking forward to my dotage, in which I anticipate being unable to open the fridge door to get a pint of milk because some bright young thing with perfect eyesight will have applied an 'upgrade' without asking me that requires that I first read and respond to some tiny text on a display on the door that it would be physically impossible for me to read even if it weren't the middle of the night. (If you are such a bright spark, take it from an aging fogey: it will happen to you, too.)

Well you can disable licence syncing, that should get rid of that message.
