    Boot time

I have just updated my laptop to Windows 8.1, it now takes about 3/4 minutes to load after entering my password, all I get is a blank screen for all that time before I see the desktop. Can anyone point to a solution please

Many thanks in advance for any replies

Windows 8.1 Pro x64 Media Center Edition

Hi Tecknoes and welcome to Eight Forums!

Can you give some more details about your laptop? What is the type? What sort of HDD has it (mech or ssd)? Etc.

You could already start with this ==> SFC /SCANNOW Command - Run in Windows 8

If there are any integrity problems, the SFC Scannow command will find en solve them.

As mentioned above, run sfc/scannow. If that resolves the issue, good
You can also scan PC for virus and run Malwarebytes to check for any issues.
