I'm a confused noob. I have a brand new machine w/Windows 8 -> 8.1. I had a backup of Documents, Music, Downloads, and Pictures on an external harddrive, from old Win7 machine, that I copied over and pasted into the new machine. Everything seems to be there. But, I have a folder showing in My PC that has the name of my old machine. I can't open it, nor delete it. I get messages saying
"(filename) is denying access to your PC. Contact the owner of the media server to allow your PC to access it."
Initially I would get the same error when I tried to go to Properties, or Expand...but this morning I was able to open Properties (who knows why this time worked and others it didn't) and saw that it has something to do with Windows Media Player Sharing, with a serial number, a MAC address, a unique identifier, and an IP address. There are no tabs in the screen to go to Security or other options.
I've been able to rename the folder...but I want to be rid of it (at least I think so).
Can you advise?
