ABLE to set METRO apps to open half of screen by default?

Would really like for windows apps to open 50% view by default instead of forcing me to manually do this each time. Is it possible?

Thanks

Edit: I'm talking about Metro apps, not everyday 3rd party programs that run on desktop version.

For programs where the main window is resizable you could use a utility such as WinSize2

My understanding is that the built in choices are Normal Maximized or Minimized. Many programs when set to open "Normal" will remember size and position at the moment they were closed. I don't understand the reluctance to use programs unless you have an office with many machines.

Most small utilities exist because the native Windows controls did not do a particular thing.

Don't take this the wrong way but I don't need to justify my opinion on 3rd party apps to you. Yes most are good and some eff up your machines.

My question was if there was a W8 setting that opened metro apps 50%, not the best 3rd party apps that were last released before windows 8 was released.

Thanks though. Again, not trying to be a jerk.

At top you said "Windows Apps" and at bottom you now say "Metro Apps." To me a "Windows App" is any Windows program. If I knew your question was Metro centric I wouldn't have replied as I'm too new to W8 Metro UI to advise you. Someone else may shed some light.

When I said I didn't understand the reason not to use third party programs I was wondering if there was a specific reason. They call them "personal computers" because you can run 'em how you want. At least that's how it was. That idea seems to be fading. But I'm not trying to control how you run your machine. I get no commission either way. :)

Gotcha. Now I get why you were pushing that program. Sorry for the confusion. Yes I was referring to the Metro apps that take up the entire screen.

My guess is they are designed for hand held devices so they may not have a sizing mechanism. It may happen eventually.

I haven't found a way to do that. They just open full screen on the screen you launch them on. After that you have to resize them. It would be nice if they remembered their last position and size like normal desktop apps do. Maybe they'll fix that in 8.3 or 9.
