I have just upgraded to 8.1 from 8 and cannot find Widows Accessories anywhere. I don't really recall it being in 8 either but am not sure. I would like to have System Tools, Paint, Fax and Scan and Word Pad at least available to me from the Desktop.

Has Windows Accessories been dropped from Win 8.1?

Thank you.

Hello JJG,

They're still in Windows 8/8.1. You could open the from your Apps screen.

If you like, you could also use the tutorial below to add an "Accessories" desktop context menu to make opening them easier.

Hope this helps, :)
Shawn

Thanks again Shawn. I think I will create a kb macro to type that 'cuz it seems I am always typing it! :)

I would indeed like but there is no such folder or file in my %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Windows Accessories. Wonder what happened to it. Is there a way get one?

If you copy that path (current user only) into the address bar of File Explore, you don't have anything?

For me, only Notepad was in the folder.

The main path that has most of them for all users is:

%ProgramData%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Windows Accessories

These are just shortcuts at these locations though. You can add a shortcut to either location to show up on your "Apps" screen.

Gotcha! I found everything in the %ProgramData% path and now have that situation under control. Tomorrow will probably bring on another problem

Thanks again for everything.
