I'm waiting for someone to release an ISO image so I can do a clean install rather than the update. Microsoft is saying they have no plans to release one, but you know it will show up somewhere.

Nothing new on TechNet, not yet, not for me anyway. The RTM has been up since 9.9.2013 I believe. I'm hoping a new image gets released with the rollup included. My laptop and desktop are all ready running 8.1. It will just be my wife's laptop that will get the notification. I haven't decided yet if I'll byte or not on that PC. All she does is FaceBook, Google, and e-mail. I might just let sleeping dogs lie.

Running a clean install of 8.1 RTM w/previous authentication via a work-around. No notice from the Windows store yet (and maybe I won't get one) but I did find that 3 Windows Updates that were available and they installed OK:

Screenshot (57).png

Update: I'm guessing someone got some kind of notification based on the lagging responsiveness of the Windows Store App:

Or maybe they all are just "browsing."

I'm downloading it right now. A large Windows 8.1 upgrade tile magically appeared in the Store a little after 7:00 ET. I don't have the world's fastest Internet connection, so it's going to take a while...

No such Win 8.1 option available from the Windows Store (for me). I guess I'm already there so it looks like my clean install with with previous authentification actually worked...

It looks like its starting to show up on TechNet. I see some Enterprise and Pro VL dated 10/17/2013. Everything except the one I actually want though?

Did you do an official upgrade to 8.1 PRO or did you just do a clean install from the ISO with the common key that was provided to all for testing? I'm wondering if one used the latter if they will ever get a prompt to upgrade because the inherent 8.0 install can't be validated. Also, since that unauthenticated Preview version is good until Jan 2014, that may come into play as well.

Using a clean install of Windows 8 with NO update installed.

I figured so. Just funning with you. I assume you have multiple test machines. Sometimes I wonder how you keep up with them!

I commend you on being one of the "King of installs" here.

Did this, but no dice. :(

This is a direct upgrade from a Windows 8 Pro install with a validated key. i.e. if I factory reset it, it would go back to Windows 8. :)

Windows 8.1 Pro Preview is not updateable. Reinstall Windows 8 than update.
