Black flickering screen upon boot

Hello,

Today I uninstalled MS Office 2010. After doing this it informed me I had to restart Windows 8 for all changes to take affect which I did. Ever since I have not been able to get into Windows 8.

Essentially I turn on the PC, I see the HP logo, and then Windows 8 goes in an endless black flickering screen loop. I have closed the laptop and pulled the battery to see if that was the issue, but it was not. Considering it was running normally before hardware wise I believe something went wrong with Win 8.

Is there any known fix for this? I lack a Win 8 disc and lack a USB DVD drive regardless (laptop does not have an internal drive) and reinstalling Windows is out of the question as I have data I need on it.

Without a DVD Drive or even a Flash Drive to use, the only option you have is the Recovery Partition.

You could TRY logging in to Safe Mode, if you can get into Safe Mode you can run Bootrec /fixmbr and then /Scanos.

Read this Tutorial and try some of the ways to get into Safe Mode:

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/4924-advanced-startup-settings-boot-windows-8-a.html

If you are successful getting into Safe Mode, type Windows Key+X and choose "Administrator Command Prompt". IN trhe Command Prompt run Bootrec /fixmbr and then Bootrec /Scanos.

And you may want to run an SFC /Scannow while you ar ein there, do it a few times.

The only other option you would have is to use your Recovery Partition, which WILL delete any important Data you need, as will a Windows Reset or Refresh as well.

If you can get a Windows 8 Installer on a Flash Drive, you could invoke a System Restore from it.

The Link I posted may show how to do a System Restore while the main OS is fouled up.

Also, you can search the Internet for a WinRE or WinPE ISO file, which you could convert to a Flash Drive using ISO2Disc. So if you don't have a flash drive, go out and get one that is at least 10 GB.
