Extra Languges (as per Windows 8) -- any ideas

    Hi there
Windows 8 (and earlier versions) had Language Interface packs available for many more languages than the standard 36 supplied on the Language pack DVD.

As Windows 8.1 is being rolled out to the public now - does anybody have any idea when these ones will be released - control panel links but says Language pack not available.

Seems strange that the Windows 8 versions WON'T work either -- for some people this could delay a take up of W8.1.

    Windows 8.1

    Hi jimbo45,

I have over 50 additional languages listed as available in my 8.1 preview. So, are you saying that the option to add a language is going to be removed and/or it just doesn't work because I have not actually tried to add one. Also, could this possibly be a carryover restriction for someone with a Win 8 single language pack installation that has upgraded to Win 8.1? Please tell us more.

The thread has been up before. Jimbo is referring to the LIPs, not the language packs. I am having the same complaint as I live in a dual language contry.

I was thinking about this when looking for a new icon for my desktop. Over the years windows has gone through many changes and outlooks. BUT nobody has ever redesigned the windows 'classic' icons - they are still as mouldy and tired as they ever were. Your suggestions? 1. Update old icons

What's coming after Windows 8.1? Any ideas?
I'm starting to get the sense that Windows 8/8.1 is a sort of Windows Vista only with a lot less programming issues. It's certainly a faster, more stable OS than Vista but it reminds me of Vista because it's in between a sharp, very well done OS(Windows 7) and something that's coming up in the near...

Hello everyone! Yesterday I purchased a Lenovo G580 running a Windows 8(x64) as a present for my little sister. But before presenting it to her on January 26, I decided to check it and install some things she'd need. First boot already showed a problem: the WiFi module sees all available...

Any suggestions would be good please. Recently I upgraded a laptop from Vista to Windows 8 Pro and after activation I found that Windows Media Centre could be installed with a free key from MS. I went ahead and did that. All is well and everything is working ok on the Vaio. Today I have...

I think Windows 8 will be where Microsoft merges the xbox and pc. Instead of releasing a normal pc OS, it will be an xbox looking thing. It will link to your tv or monitor, and will play xbox games, (Which would be considered pc games now.) Then, instead of the average mouse, it will be designed...

Ideas for Windows 8
Since we haven't even hit pre-alpha for this thing yet, I thought I might as well begin with some things Microsoft should include: 1)Three editions: Netbook, Home, and Pro. 2)Brand new UI, but keep the taskbar! 3)Built in the M programming language (as opposed to C++). 4)Out-of-the-box...
