I am haveing some issues with windows 8. One of them is when i start my computer my desktop icons are not appearing... I have done a couple of things such as the sfc/scannow on cmd however it didnt work and has some files that could not be fixed during the scan... How do i fix the rest of the corrupted file? Run DISM first. From the elevated command prompt:


  1. run: dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
  2. then run: sfc /scannow

Yes, sometimes you'll need to run sfc multiple times
